Norman Bluhm

Nasce nel 1921 a Chicago, Illinois, da genitori ebrei polacchi. Studia con Mies van der Rohe all'Armor Institute of Technology e durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale presta servizio nell'aeronautica militare degli Stati Uniti. Successivamente, si forma all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze e all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Parigi. Dal 1948 al 1956 vive a Parigi. Rientra negli Stati Uniti nel 1956. La sua carriera è segnata da numerosi cambi stilistici, una profonda comprensione dell'arte e della storia dell'arte, un vivo interesse per l'etica dell'astrazione gestuale e dell'espressionismo astratto.
