Sophie Calle

Nasce a Parigi nel 1953. L’incontro con il gallerista Bernard La Marche-Vadel, che la invita a alla XI Biennale di Parigi dopo aver scoperto l’opera Les Dormeurs, viene considerato da Calle come il momento in cui diviene un’artista.  Alla fine degli anni Settanta inizia a stendere i suoi primi Journaux intimes tra le cui pagine si susseguono riflessioni corredate da immagini; tra questi, realizza le sue prime Filatures parisiennes in cui segue degli sconosciuti per strada fino a perderli di vista, per dimenticarsene completamente qualche istante dopo. L’arte di Sophie Calle è intimistica, voyeuristica e spesso autobiografica, in cui la dimensione della sfera pubblica e privata, finzione e realtà si intrecciano.
